Who we are.

Located in Spokane, Washington, the Ukraine Relief Coalition is a fully volunteer-based coordinated team that began as an effort to respond to victims of the Russia-Ukraine war. U.R.C. is constituted of members from various Slavic, Slavic-affiliated, and American churches and organizations in Spokane. Members of U.R.C. came together through mutual acquaintances and connections within the greater Slavic church network. Many of us have family or close friends in Ukraine that are directly impacted by the war.

We are first and foremost a faith-based evangelical coalition. However, we not only partner with churches, but also government representatives and officials, and non-faith based organizations as well.

As a team, we are resourceful, flexible, and innovative as we seek to meet the necessary needs before us.

At U.R.C., we are not simply trying to “make a difference.” We desire to make an effective and responsible impact that has come as a result of careful consideration.

The URC is: Boris Borisov, Anna Bondarenko, Vladimir Kronin, Tanya Wann, Violet Tsyukalo, Mariya Kovalyov, Albina Semivrazhnov, Mark Drovorub, Roman Oberemok, Daniel Kovalyovand, and Andrey Tsyukalo.

  • In the same way the human body is made up of various parts which serve a distinct and valuable function, we believe that each member of our team and their set of gifts and skills are of equal importance to the greater whole.

We value our differences and see them as assets, rather than hindrances. Dreamers and innovators within our team are balanced by planners and discerners. Overall, we hold relational connection and respect as our strongest values.

  • Our Spokane team has been working to get more partners to come alongside our efforts. Moving forward, these are our focus areas:

Humanitarian aid to Ukraine: shipping physical supplies into hot zones in Ukraine as well as offering financial support to churches and nonprofits on the ground that have a connection to the Spokane Slavic community.

Refugee Resettlement: Helping families arriving in Spokane with physical needs and financial assistance.

Lobbying and Education: Asking our Congress representatives to shorten work authorization (as of now it takes 4-5 months to approve permission for a refugee to gain employment) and other needs.

Raising Funds: Our team is all volunteer based. All funds raised will be used for the work listed above. We are grateful for your generosity and thank you in advance for continuing to give.

  • At U.R.C., we value working and connecting with like-minded organizations and institutions. Our primary partner is Thrive International, Thrive International empowers multicultural communities to thrive. Its mission is to move local refugees from surviving to THRIVING. Through education, training, and creating spaces for refugees and citizens to get to know each other, Thrive is helping cultivate a more vibrant community by embracing our diversity.

For those wanting to help.
